Supporting the HGV and PSV industries
- Commercial advantage
- Independent assurance
- Raising standards
Recognised as the impartial voice of the industry, IRTE believes in promoting competence, best practice and safety in the workplace, as well as recognising and addressing the needs of those working in the transport industry. Because of this, we developed the IRTE Workshop Accreditation Scheme, which is an independent verification of the health and safety, quality and expertise of your workshop(s)
The workshop accreditation programme is delivered by a number of partners, who all have auditors working to the rigorous levels demanded by IRTE:
- Blyth Equipment
- Freight Transport Association
- Manchester College
- S&B Automotive
- Transport Training Services
- Vehicle Inspection and Training Services
- North Lindsey College
This programme enables maintenance providers to demonstrate their competence and excellence whilst allowing operators and manufacturers to choose workshops that have been independently assessed to IRTE’s quality assured standards.
Under IRTE Workshop Accreditation, IRTE Approved Auditors will assess compliance in key areas such as premises, equipment, technical and clerical staff, management, documentation, quality and appearance.
The scheme provides an independent benchmark enabling easy and informed decision-making from customers, whilst also increasing the overall standard of vehicle repair.
IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers) is an independent body providing support and guidance to transport engineers and technicians and is one of the most respected names in UK transport today. IRTE is a professional sector of the Society of Operations Engineers, which represents 17000 of the UK’s engineering professionals in safety, standards and best-practice
